| - I think my home town Brighton ought to join the euro. This way we can show our independence from the rest of conservative Britain ! |

Here are a few points for Brighton Council to consider before it joins the euro:
1. Just like the UK it will have to hand over a substantial proportion of its reserves (£1.5 billion in the case of the UK) - non-returnable if it doesn't work out
2. Just like the UK, there is a one-off non-returnable membership fee (£100 million for the UK, equivalent to about £400,000 for a town the size of Brighton)
3. The European Central Bank will limit your borrowing, set your interest rates and set strict public spending limits
4. Your currency will be devalued as and when the nations of central and southern Europe join the E.U.
5. Decisions affecting Brighton will be made by 12 countries meeting in Frankfurt and not your government in Westminster.
BUT...you might be allowed to put Brighton Pavilion on the reverse of your coins
