| - On the 51st anniversary of the accession of the accession of Queen Elizabeth II to the British throne, three anti-metric events were held in Suffolk.
At 11.00am, Imperial traders/butchers Five Winds Farm Shop at Melton received a laminated presentation colour cartoon of Neil Herron and Steve Thoburn, signed by Neil Herron and Steve Thoburn, with the 'Suffolk Advertiser' reporter and photographer in attendance. The award was for the trader who collected the most money for the Metric Martyrs Fund, using the red MMF collection boxes.
At 11.30am, at the nearby village of Eyke, a car park height sign was changed from ' 2.2 M ' to ' 7' 2" ', with the 'East Anglian Daily Times' photographer in attendance.
There was then an anti-metric lunch at 'The Rustics', Eyke, attended by The Chairman and Secretary of ARM. A meat-and-veg pie with red pepper jelly was followed by an apple-and-lemon meringue and cream

Thanks Tony, your descriptions of "anti-metric" events always make my day !
It's good to know that there is a place in this world where world politics, higher education, science and progress haven't replaced good old "common sense".
Do you actually have to drive outside the village to post ?

An article and accompanying photo of the Eyke Car Park metric sign being amended was in Saturday's 'East Anglian Daily Times' - but I don't have a URL for the piece yet. The photo shows an ARM activist in trademark yellow high-visibility jacket on a portable stepladder carrying out the improvement

A photo of members of ARM presenting staff of the Five Winds Farm Shop, Melton (near Woodbridge) with the signed laminated cartoon of the 'Metric Martyrs' achieved the front page of the Suffolk Advertiser (Ipswich and South Suffolk edition) this week
