I am a little surprised that no one on this forum has commented on the announcement in the US that a building called "Freedom Tower" is to be ereceted on the former WTC site in New York.

It has been designed so that its height is 1776 feet in commemoration of the year of American Independance.

Any comments from our American posters?

Half way up it will be 888 feet

One third of the way up it will be 592 feet

A quarter of the way up will be 444 feet

A sixth of the way up it will be 296 feet

One sixteenth of the way up it will be 111 feet

If each floor is 12 feet high it will have 148 storeys.

Er, that's it!

Well I'm surprised that the pro-imps didn't crow about the traditional measure of the foot being immortalised in such a monument.

Or perhaps they share the feeling of others that "Freedom Tower" and what it stands for is inappropriate.

As for Tony's observations all I can say is you missed a few:

Why bother? People tend to crow only when they are in a millitant minority ;)
