Isn't it amazing, Britain has its ships built overseas in metric countries b/c it could not keep up with French, Italian and German innovations in ship building, nor as everybody knows could the Yanks.

That sad fact gets the usual inane comment from steveH, while others are far more interested into how many quarters and fifths thousand something feet can be divided.
No wonder this country is going down the drain with people living in the past and arguing how many thou's one can fit on the point of a needle.

It is a shame (rather than 'amazing')
However you seem to admit that Britain is not a metric country there old timer - careful now!

Erm , do you think that this might be because this site is about British Weights and measures?
How about finding a "flower enthusiasts" website? Perhaps you could tell them, on their discussion forums, that the UK unemployment is so high because people there are talking about daffodils? Or perhaps you can liken our failing economy to an overabundance of sunflowers? Get real eric!
Don't forget to have a nasty go at anyone who admits to having a 6 foot rubberplant!

Indeed, if the prime minister and his chancellor could spend more time reading economic data from industry at home and useful forcasts from the rest of the world rather than spend all his time gathering information from the BWMA website then perhaps the UK could move from being the world's 20th biggest economy to - say- fourth! eh?

Remind me again - which planet are you on? Perhaps you could look for our exploration device while you're there!

(I believe that a certain amount of "christmas pop" had been consumed before eric's post today!!)
