Did anyone watch the England-France Match on Saturday night?

What an appalling site to see the English lads get ready for the (ahem) British national anthem only to have that EU national anthem played instead!

Not only did the England team look a tad confused as they were prepared to start signing (As is always tradional to play the visiting country's anthem first) but all the people in the pub I was in were shouting "what th f--- is this all about!". Soem of us knew the sinister reason for "Ode to joy" being played.

A few points:

1) I had to LOL when the band triumphally finish the EU anthem to absolutely no cheers from the largely French audience compared to the hysteria that followed their "proper" French national anthem.

2) Considering that politics has been traditionally kept out of Rugby (anyone who knows the make-up of the Irish team will instantly recognise this) then who *ON EARTH* thought that flying that ghastly blue flag and playing that anthem was somehow going to please the audience? It was an embarrasing (for the EU-twits) spectacle that I have *NEVER* seen before in Rugby but I did grin somewhat when it backfired.
