Xcole, I cannot help but notice that all your posts follow exactly the same format. They begin with someone's name and the phrase "in response to...", have a few lines of analysis, followed by a list of measures, and a link to the same site as usual. Since the posts always follow this pattern, I am beginning to wonder if you are a real human being or a computer that is programmed to pick out key words from posts and respond to them from an automated database of answers. Therefore, please reply to this post in a format other than your usual. One line will suffice. Thanks.

You mean we've been talking to a robot or a computer all this time? Xcole, is this true?

More like we've been talking to a bloody idiot all this time.

A point in favour of Xcole being flesh and blood is the existance of his (or her) website. If Xcole was an automatom, who would set up his site?

Given what's actually contained on that site I'd have to stick with it being set up by a bloody idiot!

I wouldn't be at all surprised if whoever set up the site (which I haven't seen) programmed it to post on these forums.

Really? Is that possible? I swear I detected a sense of humour directed against specific users in specific ways before.

Do people wish me to delete Xcole's messages?

Personally, I just skip reading most threads that are started by him. It's not really a big deal.

I feel the same way, Bud. Sometimes he adds to the debate in marginal ways. I just wish he would talk some sense occassionally.

So in conclusion - "no" - don't delete his posts.
That's the start of a slippery slope.
Next it will be eric's posts being deleted for being intentionally stupid.

I hear that he cannot post for the moment, by the way. His monitor has gone up in smoke and he refuses to accept a replacement with "inch" descriptions on it.

XCole's postings provide us with a constant reminder of what happens if units of measurement are allowed to get out of control - the metric system seeks to minimise the number of units of measure in use.

I am not suggesting that Xcole's posts should be deleted because some might find them obscure - the issue revolves around whether he is a real person or a program. If he is in fact an "it", then it would be right to delete them.

REPLY: There is more than one posting from xcole on this bulletin board that xcole has made in person, once at least in response to a specific question. Mind you, they are developing so-called 'intelligent robots' these days
