Weigh Tape

Glen,

Regarding your question of November 11 @ 10:21 a.m.

''What is a weigh tape? Is there such a thing?''

Glen, yes there is.

Weigh tapes are sold by the Texas & Southwestern Cattlemen's Association. A weigh tape is used by strapping it snuggly around the entire girth of the live cow or live bull, just behind the forelegs. The estimated cow or bull avoirdupois weight is then read off that part of the tape that overlaps the end of the tape.

TSWCA also used to sell scrotum tapes, but they quit years ago after a couple of drovers got killed. Remember:

''Castrate or estimate, never measure tape.''
