Regarding your question of February 26th @ 10.03 a.m.

Jake, that’s a negatory.

The broadest width of a human hair is 1’’’’ or even wider. It is true that the average width of a human hair is about 1/2’’’’, so I guess that’s why folks use ‘’douzieme’’ more often than ‘’hairbreadth’’. Douzieme is also a shorter word.
