Ban the filth of Metric\\\\\\\\\\\\
Metre
Not so long ago a poster was banned from the inner board because he mentioned outdated measurements as Fred Flintstone Units. This in my opinion is benign compared to expressions used by S. Cruple, “metric filth” and “filthric” for metric. So far neither the moderator nor whinging imperialists had anything to say. Fairly moderated, this board should not condone such blatant partisanship. As far as I am concerned, nobody should be banned for anything, but foul language.
If it would not be a matter of fairness, I could not care less how S. Cruple describes the metric sytem, after all it only reflects his tortured mental state.
So you complain about a poster's use of words then you insult him.
Can anyone else see the irony there?
No, you don't have to answer!

Terms such as "filthric" are unacceptable and will be deleted by the Moderator without warning. Please note, the Moderator does not have time to read every post. If such terms slip through, this should not be interpreted as acceptance.

How about people who say that other posters have a tortured mind?
Or are numbskulls, dimwits, yankees and ignoramuses?
Otherwise it looks like we are applying behavioural rules to those who call measurement system names but not to those who (ahem) "win" their arguments by insulting other posters for not changing their opinions to that of those chucking the insults about.
I think that some people (hmm, maybe just one or two) forget that debate requires that those with different opinions come together to argue those opinions with interesting observations to back their opinions. This nourishes the debate.
'Debate' does not mean people with different opinions coming together with one opinion marked as "higher" than the other and thus the end of the debate requires those with "lower" opinions to have changed their opinions or face the terrible prospect of being called some names.
