Europe and Britain

Well, xcole, I'll leave you to your musings about where the natural boundaries of Europe lie.

Europe, or Europa, of course, was a mythical Greek woman who, according to legend, made love to a bull or was seduced or raped by a bull, or possibly an eagle - the mythical Greek god Zeus in disguise.

By contrast, the founder of Britain, Bryttys - or Brutus - was a real man, who arrived here from western Greece in around 1150 BC at Totnes.

The comparative flags are also of interest.

The European flag, or should I say symbol, is based on a Roman Catholic misinterpretation of the 12 stars referred to in Revelation 12 vv. 1-2.

By contrast, the British flag, the Union Jack, is based on St. George, a Roman soldier from Asia Minor who was tortured, then executed for his faith in Christ, St. Andrew, the disciple and apostle who - also executed for his faith in Christ - was reportedly was crucified sideways, hence the diamond shape of the Scottish saltire, and St. Patrick, the Welshman or Cumbrian who devoted his life to the conversion of Ireland.

These comparisons are worth dwelling on...
