Imperial Victory in Holderness, E. Yorkshire

From a letter dated 18 May 2002 received this morning from Mr W B Bell of Ottringham:

"Approximately a month ago, I noticed two temporary road signs erected to warn of adjacent road works in the Holderness area of the East Riding of Yorkshire. Both signs displayed metric measurements. I immediately wrote to the County Council pointing out that this was against the law. About two days later one sign was removed altogether whilst the other had its measurements altered to Imperial..."
