A letter received today from Miss A Proudfoot (ARM code name), aged 75 and living somewhere in the south-east of England, tells of a late-night amendment of a metric sign to an imperial one and adds the following observation (verbatim):
"Although theoretically possible to come back at me, anyone would have had:
(a) to notice me and what I was doing at the speed at which they were going
(b) connect with my car parked in a layby at the entrance (190 yards away)
(c) take the number
(d) trace me via DVLA, and
(e) PROVE IT [emphasis in original]"
