| - Sign to Saab garage (not officially a saab dealership) on Station road, Loudwater, Highwycombe - says 150metres.
It's a private sign but, as argued here, will be used by the road going public.
What's the strongest "off the counter" glue you can get? |

I have used UHU superglue recently and it seems quite good.
A good test Steve is to put a bit on the lips. If you have trouble speaking after that you'll know its just the job.

Our technical expert 'Q' recommends that a 1/8" (3mm) thick aluminium plate of sufficient size to cover the word 'metres' be obtained. Often these need to be up to 1' 6" long and 5" to 6" high depending on how big the lettering is.
The plate is then painted a colour to match the sign, as far as possible, and the letters 'yds', obtained beforehand from a signs manufacturer, should then be affixed to the painted plate.
A white silicon mastic (like Flexon HX-20) is then squeezed on to the back of the plate, which is then immediately placed over the offending word 'metres', leaving an attractive and reasonably permanent replacement sign. It takes seconds for the plate to be affixed and about 5 minutes or so for the mastic to set hard. I'm afraid it leaves a terrible mess behind if you try to remove it.
A sample of this technique may be seen at the Dutch-sounding Zuytleens Nursery on the northbound A1 in Bedfordshire, just south of Sandy I think.
ARM has supplies of all the above-mentioned items including 'yds' in various sizes and both black and white.
