| An Inconsistent 'Irregularity' or 'Anomaly' in Biddulph (well, anything but 'Illegality')November 28 2002 at 11:17 PM | Tony Bennett |
| - A Mr P.H. of Stoke-on-Trent tackled Staffordshire Moorlands Council about an illegal metric-only height sign outside a car park in Biddulph at the entrance to the library. The reply he got (today, 28 November) was:
-------------------------------------------------------
"I have studied the legislation you have quoted and consulted with the Traffic Engineer at Staffordshire CC. The opinion is that the sign should be consistent with the directive contained in the Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 1994.
"I will therefore arrange for a new sign to be erected showing the height restriction in both metric and Imperial measurements.
"I will also arranage to have all similar signs on car parks checked and any irregularities will be rectified. This covers Leek, Cheadle and Biddulph areas.
"Thank you for informing us of the anomaly.
Yours etc..."

With so many metric only height signs around, and there are very very many believe me, you lot really have got your work cut out.
