Deos anyone know how to insert formatted text into posts eg italic text. I have tried to do this to highlight where I am quoting from a previous post, and it just comes out the same as all the rest and ends up quite confusing.

It is not possible at the moment as the message forum is set to basic text - ie without formatting.

Asterisks are often used for emphasis on the net.

*This is emphasis*.

However THIS IS SHOUTING and is usually considered bad form. (I wash my keyboard out with soap).

It is simply good manners, in the same way as if we were face to face, I would not stick my tongue out at you.

Following from your suggestion, we could all, individually, decide the appropriate way to act without any thought for others at any time.

What you seem to suggest is that we could act impolitely, dismissively or rudely and it would be fine.

What a self-centred and inconsiderate way of behaving.
