| - Received by ARM today from a supporter in Heckmondwike, West Yorkshire:
"...a metric road sign has been erected in the village of Tong, which lies between Birkenshaw and Pudsey. The sign, situated off the A 650 on the left hand of the minor road approaching Tong village from the Birkenshaw end - after Tong Garden Centre - indicated the distances in kilometres to Fulneck College and another place..."

This sign is now on the updated ARM hit list

The answer of course is none, but a fair number certainly have km on their odometers. (Some vehicles have user-switchable mile/km odometers, some cars such as my brother-in-law's cars were privately imported and others such as mine (I believe) have garage-switchable odometers. |

And what %age of cars do you think have km to those with miles on their mileometers?
Hmm?
This is the source to my "bizzare" comment |

Steve
By definition, a mileometer measures distances in miles whereas an odometer measures distance (units not specified). |

(P.S. What *is* an 'odo'?)

The footpath signs in Tong, giving distances of '0.25 km' and '1.4 km' to two local destinations, have now been professionally restored by ARM supporters to read in Imperial measurements

What's all this about professional? Are you being paid to do it now then? Or are you paying someone to do it?

REPLY: Professional as opposed to amateur. Our amendments use Department for Transport quality reflective background adhesive panelling, black and white reflective lettering, and Department for Transport font styles, all bought from a nationally-known professional signs company. We are not paid at all, but generous donors help us buy the materials we use
