| - News from ARM supporter Jamie Bye in Leicestershire just in.
He recently noticed an outbreak of illegal, whoops! *unlawful* metric signs around the A6 between Leicester and Loughborough: 'Site Entrance Ahead 600 m' and similar.
He 'phoned the contractor, Murphys, and pointed out that they were illegal.
They were changed by Murphys and replaced by signs in legal yards within 48 hours of his telephone call

I wonder whether they would have done that, pre-trial? |

'Magnificent' was clearly the wrong word for Murphys, as this e-mail copied to ARM -from JB in Leicestershire, one of our 'spotters' - makes clear.
I have learnt today that after 10 days or so, Murphys have indeed replaced the illegal metric distancs with distances in yards.
Sometimes a message takes a few times to really sink in, as anyone in marketing will tell you.
'Middling' would perhaps be a better word than 'magnificent':

Dear Murphys
A new works entrance has been created on Cossington Lane between Rothley and Cossington Leics. Once again the distance warning signs have been denoted in metres, which as previously pointed out is unlawful and should be in yards. I hope you will rectify this in the same prompt manner as before.
