In the spirit of "truthfulness" promoted on another board, can you give us a totally truthful update of ARM's actual membership & current officeholders (including some real names and addresses)

Obviously, we all hope to see a bigger membership than 3.5 men, 1 woman and a dog, but, unfortunately, cannot expect any real answers from this (according to Steve) public body.

Ball is in your court.......

Further and Better Particulars

re (Beranger): "In the spirit of 'truthfulness' promoted on another board..."

RELY: As they say in the legal profession, please give further and better particulars of the 'another board' that you mention and what exactly its 'spirit of truthfulness' is all about and actually amounts to.

When you've done that, I will exchange information about CMS and ARM with UKMA in respect of whatever information UKMA are prepared to release about themselves. You will have to contact them. We will agree to a simultaneous release of comparable information. I am not authorised to release information about BWMA and I believe the webmaster of bwmaonline has already released some information publicly on another thread

Tony

The thread I refer to is "Re: Britain gave an inch. Now the EU wants 1.609km" on the great debate board.

I'll quickly summarise

On Sept 7, I posted "Firstly, UKMA are not a public body. Tony continually states that they consist of "three-and-a-half men, one woman and a dog"

Probably a similar-sized membership to BWMA, ARM, CMS etc"

Steve posted "<<Firstly, UKMA are not a public body>> I thought that because they have "association" status both they (and BWMA) are public bodies of sorts"

The Freedom of Information Act applies to public bodies. Members of the public can ask for various pieces of information held by these bodies.

BWMA are obviously aware of this, as the DfT letter they refer to in the "UK Metric Association is unnamed party" story (in News in Brief) is headed "FOI Act - Request for Disclosure"

I also posted "If the FOI Act applied to BWMA, I would consider asking them to produce a copy of the most recent lobbying letter to TSD's."

I don't really believe that the FOI Act actually applies to ARM, CMS or BWMA - but wondered what reaction I would get if I made an "FOI Act" request to the 3 bodies.

(I really would be interested in finding out the actual membership of all 3 of them!)

I'm willing to accept the "3.5 men, 1 woman & a dog" figure for UKMA though. I don't support them, and, as I state on the thread mentioned above, "BWMA & UKMA are both equally guilty."

If you wish to reply (and obviously you don't have to!) your reply should state that you cannot give out the specific private information I asked for (addresses) but that you do have xx current members.
