they think we are all brainwashed aboiut the "new" Counties! new? whats that then as our Traditional Counties may never be changed by any act of Parliament as Parliament never did create them in the first place!, so why do Maps show "Political" Counties and not "real" Counties?, I want a Map to show me where I am NOT what County Councils area I am in!!!!!!, easy to brainwash the British Public isn't it?

Crazy

I think that it is crazy to say that. All counties are defined by Acts of Parliament, not by where you think they should be. A county is an administrative area, and thus it has to have administrative authorities. For example, the County of Lancashire is administered by Lancashire County Council, and those areas that some people think should be part of Lancashire but are not, are not administered by Lancashire County Council so they have no reason to consider those other areas as part of Lancashire. Lancashire is whatever Parliament decrees it to be by its Acts.

As for postal addresses, the Royal Mail is way behind in updating its postal references to actual counties. Actually I think they gave up due to the expense, and now they just prefer addresses to be written without any county name. Which makes sense, as too many people make mistakes due to the confusion caused by crazy people wanting to hang on to the old definitions of county boundaries instead of the new official ones.
