Success in the battle to obliterate illegal metric signs from British roads continue to come in from all around the country.
Here's another very recent success reported by Surrey B.W.M.A. member J.F., in his own words:

RESULT!!
Back in August, I spotted a sign in Reigate warning of “Speed ramps for 200 metres”. I wrote to the local office of Surrey County Council’s Highways Department, who have always been very good at rectifying other people’s non-compliant signage. But in this case, it turned out that the offending sign was the work of Reigate and Banstead Borough Council. The County Council’s nerve failed them, and they passed the buck to the Borough Council.
Lengthy correspondence ensued, the gist of which was that according to a publication from the Stationery Office, the sign was just fine as it was.
I was all set to let loose the dogs of war, or at least ARM. But Tony Bennett put me on to guidance sent by the Department of Transport to all local authority Chief Executives, which is very clear on this point, and which I forwarded to the Borough Council. I have today received a letter from their Head of Engineering Services, admitting his fault, and promising to alter the sign.
Three cheers for Imperial measures, and many thanks to those who have helped, especially Tony Bennett.
J.F.
