Outside Kings Cross train station, there is a road-works sign stating "600m". Nearby, under the archway into St Pancras railway station, there are height restriction signs stating "4.6m". Letter written to Camden Council who passed the letter to Mouchel, the maintaining agent, who say the Kings Cross sign has since been removed and the St Pancras sign is the responsibilty of Railtrack.
(I should have said ages ago as I have been aware for so long - apologies for taking so long)
It seems like these people are like Islington Council. The replacement signs could give the distances in yards or fractions of a mile, but instead they do not give distances at all. If this is Railtrack's doing, then what on earth is their gain? I must say that giving distances is very helpful and we only want them to give the distances in authorised units.
[Please don't ANYBODY say that we did not have to remove the signs: they were illegal and they should have been expressed in imperial whether those in charge wanted to or not. It's not our fault that metric units are illegal along with being dateless, cultureless, artificial and useless.]
