Scottish Law

Wonder if anyone knows if the law on metric road signs is the same in Scotland as rest of UK?

Most road traffic law is the same but there are some variations - sure I have seen metric ones but can't remember where.

Martin, it is our understanding that Scottish law is the same as the English on road signs. This is an area where laws are made at UK level.

I think the law in the whole of Great Britain is the same (don't know about Northern Ireland). The preamble to the 1994 regulations say:

"The Secretary of State for Transport, the Secretary of State for Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting in the manner and in exercise of the powers specified in Appendix 1 to this Instrument, hereby..."

This suggests that there is no difference between England, Wales and Scotland, at least.

Austin.

Traffic Signs are not a devolved matter and remain the responsibility of the Westminster Parliament
