metric pedestrian signs in Bridgwater, Som.

-
Last August I wrote Sedgemoor District Council pointing out that they had two metric pedestrian signs which were illegal. They eventually blacked out one sign's metric measurement but dallied on the second. When the local press wrote I was standing as a UKIP candidate the second sign was dealt with. I have now found a third sign which I will be contacting them about. At Highbridge in Somerset there is a "Welcome to Highbridge" sign which gives the car park distance in metres.

Yards not Metres

Vicki,

As the song goes: "two out of three ain't bad".

Have you tried asking them to _replace_ the metres with yards?

Some of us are considering direct action to cover over metric distancs neatly and then put on the distance in yards. White parcel tape, overprinted with adhesive black letters of 'Department of Transport' quality
(available from any road signs manufacturer) is one option.
