How about this

Euric,

Since you seem to be so amused by this talk.

I went out this weekend to the grocery store. I bought a gallon of milk, a 2lb. eye roast, a 2 quart container of tomato juice, and a 12oz. package of corn bread mix.

I looked at the label, and the receipt. I didn't make this stuff up because I LIVE IN THE US where customary measures are alive and well. In fact, I could look around my office right now (I'm a Civil Engineer) and not be able to begin to count the things made with customary units.

:-D

Indeed and when I got up today I went to work.

First of all i checked my tyres at the petrol station - I put 26PSI in. I didn't need to pretend that the instructions had metric as it wasn't there.

Then I drove to work - I kept to 70 mph on the motorway as this is the legal max. I looked at the speedo and noticed tiny numbers under the MPH- It read km/h. I didn't need to pretend it wasn't there but did realise that no signs showed km/h so i could safely ignore it.

When I got into work I had many conversations with many people. People spoke to each other in pure imperial terms and no-one got confused by the word "foot" and "inch"

I also listened to the radio where numerous references were made to imperial.

The weather quoted celsius as well as fahrenheit but this did not make me suicidal.

Now at the end of the day I have come up against very few metric terms.

I'm going to tesco next.

No - you're right - it really is *not* funny at all.

Still we can all pretend to post as other people - but that would appear to everyone like we'd lost the argument.

Over to you then "euric"...

ROTFL

ROTFL = Roll on the floor laughing

This is one of a number of frequently used Netiquette accronyms. You can see a few more on may sites, for example
