I am trying to download several months of banking transactions into my quickbooks registry. My bank only uses quicken format or Microsoft Money. I've done the conversion from quicken to quickbooks but the information doesn't show up in my Quickbooks registry even though it tells me the import was successful. Has anyone done this. Please help me. Maybe I'm missing the last step or something.
If you are downloasing a bank statement in Quicken format, nothing will import into QuickBooks. The formats for Quicken and QuickBooks is totaly differant.
Use the manyal reconcile screen to reconcile. The import of bank statements will not import the checks and deposits into the check register it will only check to match the reansactions that have been entered into QuickBooks nad the checks that have cleared the bank.
FWIW, I was also frustrated when making the move from Quicken to QB. Here's what I've done:
My bank allows downloads of CSV files. After opening in Excel it's relatively simple to set up some macros to convert the data (search the bulletin boards and online help for IIF formats) to the "import formats". You may have some cleanup after importing the transactions, but it still beats re-entry of all xactions.
I pursued this methodology because:
1. I enjoy frustrating challenges
2. My checking acct data are relatively simple to translate
3. I don't have the cash to engage the many "consultants" that have the translation templates you may wish to use instead of the above...
Contact me & I'll send you an example xlate.bas module to use in the VBA that you can import into the .csv files (and then save as tab delimited .iif files...)
