Re - Development of Mitchams Corner AreaJuly 26 2002 at 11:40 PM | Concerned |
| - Surprised nobody has commented on latest developments reported by Stuart today in his Weekly Update.
Did anyone else go to The Meeting referred to and, if so, what was mentioned, if anything, about The City Ground since it has obviously come into The Re-Development Equation? If not, and you read this Stuart, perhaps you could kindly keep all of us informed, please.
Sorry, in some ways, to start this off again but it just won`t go away will it? I have to admit though that I did not realise The Mitchams Corner Project could incorporate The Ground! This could just prove to be another pressure to force The Club to move out especially as the value of The Ground will now almost certainly have been enhanced considerably!

The news that Mitchams Corner is being considered for re-development sounds really positive particularly if the City ground is to be part of that proposal? Whilst we may have lost important access directly on to Mitchams Corner via our old ground, any project incorporating our ground is significant and should open the way for a new ground on the outskirts of the Town. It is truely remarkable how circumstances have unfolded since the club thought its only viable option was to move in with "devil". The restructuring of non league football may not have helped our Congerence aspirations, but a new ground certainly will. With the Council now working for us instead of against us everything is possible. |

I don't see why we would lose access to Mitcham's Corner if Green's Property Co. who own the Westgate Centre buy up the whole site. I think we can now safely forget all about Cambridge United and go it alone. |

For a moment there I was getting all excited about a new bus shelter, ahem stand, being erected.
Never mind, us old folk will continue to shiver in the open wasteland that is Milton Road. |

Now, what makes me think "City Gent" is not a City fan?
The statement on the news page is very interesting, but inconclusive. It remains to be seen how it will affect City`s future regarding redevelopment
We`ll have to wait and see | |
