Chris, and Cootergoon, and everyone else who is weighing in on this dialouge. I don't think I would be able to get you to admit it Chris, but you pretty much reiterated what I was saying only you said it with a little less ferver, look back at your post. yeah we haven't been that good this year, last year we weren't flashy enough plus the losses, and oh yeah I know we have to many penalties. Sounds like a really nice version of what I said, no disrespect. I have just gotten to the point where I am calling it like I see it . I am not making anymore excuses for why this stupid thing happend again or we didn't do that for the thousanth time etc. I am not discarding what you said because I get what you are trying to say-it's just not that bad, I get it, go 9-3/8-4 go to a respectable bowl, it's just not that bad. I agree that's not that bad at all if that's where you want to be. I'll say it again, we have already been here in the early to mid 90's I thought we had progressed past this. do you know we haven't been to a BCS game since 98. We haven't been to the capital one/citrus since 2001 (the best non BCS bowl) they don't want to take UT even when they basically are supposed to, they rely on some obscure rule written in to get them out of taking the "SEC runner up" Vols for another team. It was the same last year UT was passed over until the fifth pick. even UF was picked before UT last year in the bowl season??? and they were 8-4.
As far as everything cootergoon said I agree with except three things. ONE: we were ranked #17 at 9-2 not 9-3 we just didn't drop after the loss to AU and miami and fl. state both with 3 losses were ranked ahead of UT not to mention UGA sitiing 10 spots higher. TWO: I am not as confirmed as you that the coaches don't know their #$$%$ from a hole in the ground. I watched them pretty close this year I thought they did a decent job of in game coaching. most certainly there is room for improvement. but you are not going to see it, if it hasn't happened yet after 13 years its not going to. THIRD: the play before halftime was maybe a questionable call by Sanders but it was Ainge's fault that the play turned bad. If he had just fell on the ball when the play went bad we still just go to halftime. Instead he picks it up tries to rune with it the clock is at zero. I know ainge is a freshman but sanders has to believe that he will have a little common football sense during a situation like that, and the week before it was a game changer, so in my opinion it was not a completely brain dead thing to do. I enjoy all of your comments. It will be interesting to see which UT team shows up for the cotton I am inclined to agree with cootergoon just because he watches the same UT games I do.
P.S. cootergoon as far a s ainge leading us to a better game against UK/UV remember clausen lit it up for 38 /42 points something the offense had not done since game 3. It was the defense that turned those into games the "D" did absolutely nothing in those near losses luckily we just outscored them until the clock ran out. |
