| Ainge really did look good for the most part last season, especially early on with the performance against FLorida and Georgia. He did struggle a little midway, but overall I think that he played way over his head as a true freshman. The injury against Notre Dame was unfortunate, dagone Respert being out at center, and an injury to the shoulder is a pretty big deal. I believe that it was his throwing shoulder as well, was it not. I had a shoulder that would sublux every now and then and definitely affects one's pysche. I could hardly play pick-up basketball or swim without at least worrying about it. No damage was shown on my mri, but there was major repairs when it was scoped. Let's hope that technology has gotten better the last 10 years or so, and that he is truly in very good shape--I guuess that was why he was held out the last few games--he did play in the spring though right?
As for Rick Clausen, I have to admit that I was one of the real jerks who thought that he would fail miserably, and didn't mind saying so. I thought that he would cause a loss to one of the perrenial whipping posts, however I think that he may have prevented one with pretty darn good plays. The rest of the team obvioiusly also stepped up around him as well. He has to have a good confidence level heading into the season after the Cotton Bowl MVP. Better than his big brother faired in the Cotton against K-State (cringe) for sure.
Crompton may come in and get a few looks as well early into the season, and he will probably play some if another injury occurs. He may be the real deal, according to my North Carolina buddies. Speaking of qb's, how about Peyton getting another espy. Maybe they can win the big playoff game this year, but I doubt it, as the Patriots and Belichek return intact.
Has anyone else played the 2006 NCAA playstation? The Vols are loaded on that game for sure--I played Florida against my 10 year old cousin (playing the Big Orange), and it certainly was not much of a contest as P. H. and others didn't allow any time in the pocket and the wide recievers dominated. I know it is a pretty weak gauge for a team, but it was entertaining. By the way, I hope that the Florida's playbook is correct on that game. There was hardly a running play to be found, as it appears that Myers has or is installing the west coast offense based mainly on quick passing plays. That crap won't fly in the SEC, and I doubt that it will be running smoothly in their second game of the season against us. Chavis got better against Spurrier as they became more one dimensional against us. I know that a running play can be a pass to the the running back in that offense, but I still cannot stand it. I hope that we stay with our pro-style offense and keep the I-formation part of our game for a long time.
Anyway, rambling again-I doubt that anyone got this far on this convoluted message, but I am getting antsy for the beginning of the season or at least 2adays. I believe that I remember the qb for Alabama_Birmingham being one big tough dude, and a good passer as well. GO VOLS!
