I agree with the Goon about Brady being a part of a much greater machine. Week in and week out the Pats system allows them to put replacement parts at varying positions and they still succeed. That's because theirs is the most low-risk offence in the league that focuses on ball possession above all other goals.
The fact Brady is in such a low risk offence is automatically going to pad his passing stats...but they're still not impressive even versus second teir guys like Chad Pennington (when healthy) and Kerry Collins (when sober). The media has blown him up so much over the Super Bowls, which of course are very impressive...but team wins don't make him a better QB than Payton and i'm sick of everyone who would even considering arguing the point! It's like comparing the state High School football champs versus the Vols because the Vols didn't win a national championship. It doesn't even make sense.
Hopefully Brady goes down early this year...then the media will crown Doug Flutie the man. He's probably a better fit! |
