After watching last night's inept performance, I continue to wonder if Phil's 1998 National Championship developed into a Term policy or a Whole Life policy as it relates to the head coaching position at UT. I am guessing whole life for the native son. If this is so, how about the assistants. Last week, an Ole Miss fan explained to me that Cutcliffe got the ax because he would not get rid of some staff coaches as dictated by the Ole Miss AD and school administration. Fulmer should take note of this history. Surely, with all of the intercollegiate contacts, someone at UT can find Sanders a job coaching somewhere such as South Dakota State Teachers College and Divinty School for the Physically Challenged. That way, he could leave "graciously". Year after year of superb recruiting classes and blue chip players - no results. It is a shame that Jason Allen may have to sacrifice a good NFL draft pick status (which means $$$) and no reward by the team to step up and at least be in the hunt for something besides another Peach Bowl. In a meeting with other Vol fans during late summer, I predicted that we would have a talented team with a mediocre record - and I thought I was going to have to fight my way out of the meeting. I based my opinion on the Randyball antics over the past few years. And it appears that I am going to be on target with my prediction. Come on Randy, do the right thing - find yourself a nice little head coaching job somewhere (hey, D-III won't be that bad)and fade into the UT sunset.
I've had it. |
