Response to Stopping the Run |
| I did not mean what you said about stopping the run. Volswin04 mentioned that Tennessee would try to load up against the run when they play the Gators and that would be the key for the win. My feeling is that we are going to be able to run the ball whether UT lines up to stop it or not because we do not use a traditional running attack. Alot of it comes on reverses and from wide receivers out of the backfield in addition to the tailbacks and QB running.
I guess I would still have to agree right now that loading up against a run would seem to be the best strategy because Tebow was not forced to use his arm last year, but I'm not sure if this type of offense is the kind you simply load the box for. The real problem is trying to defend a wideout carrying the ball with linebackers. There is usually a big speed differential and our wideouts are usually given the ball out in space instead of between the tackles. As for Tebow's throwing ability, he has done well in spring including in the spring game where he was very accurate, but I guess we won't really know about that until the season gets here. I think if the Vols had more coming back I would give them more of a chance at beating us, but I really can't think of anyone they have playmaker-wise on offense that scares me. | |
