Every UF player that failed a drug test last year was immediately suspended for the next game or games when the results of the tests came in (That's what UF said to the media, but if you think they are lying then I can't convince you of anything.) I don't know where you think that Meyer has been letting kids off the hook. Every player that has been reported to have done something has been punished, even more so than is reported to the media. It's clear that every program is going to have players mess up every now and again. Tennessee had a crime spree in 2005. Now Coker is in trouble. There is no point in pretending that your school's players never mess up when they clearly do.
Also, as far as Avery Atkins goes, that kid dropped out of school by his own decision. He even returned, but decided to drop out again. What more can you do to try to help a kid if he doesn't want to be helped. I've even heard stories reported that coach Meyer's wife tried to convince Atkins to stay but he just said, "That's your opinion." |
