| ... really? I understand the W/L records and mathematics of that statement. But re-read the Message Title line and think about it for a moment.... Now remember what we have seen from these Vols thus far.... Finally, try saying that line convincingly as you recall the Vols performances up to this point.... See what I mean?
This is a line we've now heard two or three times this season, and I'm telling you, "WE CONTROL... NOTHING." If we make it into the SEC Championship game, it will be because everybody else in the Eastern Division has lost another game or two between now and the end of the season. If we have developed any consistency, it is in being either inconsistent or being consistently bad. How's this for a pattern: in the last two games, we've averaged a total of 1.5 points/game during the second half. Our defense has shown an increasing measure of ineptitude, reverting back to early season form. And when it has made stops, our offense could not take advantage of them. Our offense has developed ED, extreme dysfunction, over the course of the past couple of games, going from "rockets red glare and bombs bursting in air" in the first half to "much to do about nothing" in the final 30 minutes.
Vols control own fate? NOT HARDLY. We're just waiting to see how everyone else finishes, and hoping we can mathematically and quite undramatically sneak into the championship game. May fortune favor the floundering.
