Wind sprints are commonly employed by football players or other "endurance" athletes that may have to run ALL OUT for short bursts (making the tackle, etc.). They are usually fifty yards, but can be longer or shorter. You get on the starting mark, have someone say "go" and run as fast and hard as you can for the fifty yards (or whatever distance you select). Walk back, then do it again for as many sets as you can! That, my friend, is wind sprints! It is not uncommon for someone to "lose their lunch" while doing these!
