Hello Everyone!
I am extremely pleased to announce that the Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Academy, located at 117 B Citation Court in Homewood, will be opening as planned on January 2nd! Everything is falling into place, and I have been working very hard toward completion! I am counting on those of you who have said you would be there to actually show up prepared to sign up, pay and get started! This is going to be the finest training facility that I have ever had, and lots of work has gone into making it so!
To make all of you aware of certain policies that need to be in effect immediately upon opening, please read the following very carefully.
(1) All payment is to be made IN CASH (NO CHECKS ... PERIOD!) or through Paypal ( https://www.paypal.com ) to the Paypal account ID Sifu@HardcoreJKD.com . If you pay for training through Paypal, please pay BEFORE showing up to train! At or before the time of joining, first month's dues and the $50.00 initial membership and registration fee MUST be paid by EVERY MEMBER, regardless of current or previous training history! The membership and registration fee goes directly toward facility maintenance and purchasing new training equipment. EVERYONE has to pay this, as all will be using the facility and the equipment!
(2) The Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Academy is a private, member's only training facility. If you know someone who would be interested in training, please have them get in contact with me by email ( Sifu@HardcoreJKD.com ) or phone 205-296-7070. They prospective member will be allowed to watch one class, then they must decide whether they would like to become a member or not. NO ONE will be allowed to participate in actual training without first becoming an actual member! This is a hardcore, serious, REAL WORLD self defense training atmosphere, and only serious members are wanted!
(3) The Hardcore Jeet Kune Do Academy is an ADULTS ONLY training facility! You must be old enough to drive to class in order to attend class! HOWEVER, there is an exception to this rule. If a parent wants their child to learn, they must enroll and train one-on-one with their child. Under those circumstances, it will be acceptable for a child to become a member! Both males and females are welcome, as long as you are serious about learning Bruce Lee's fighting methods in their purest form.
(4) Lots of work and money has gone into making the Academy a very clean, well equipped environment for your training! Please do your part to keep it that way! The floor is painted JKD red (four coats), and while it is an industrial grade concrete paint, it can still be scratched! No hardsole shoes or poor quality training shoes are to be worn on the floor. We DO NOT train barefooted, but instead with athletic shoes. I prefer that you select and purchase a pair of shoes to use for nothing but class (I would suggest cross trainers or running shoes by Onitsuka, Asics, Nike or Adidas) with non marking soles. Also, please wipe your feet on the matting provided before entering the Academy, and then again on the rug just inside the door. I want to keep everything looking as nice as possible! Sure, it only takes a few hours and two gallons to put another coat of paint on the floor, but why have to do what shouldn't be necessary in the first place! Also, taking the sidewalk right to the front door will help, rather than cutting across the lawn! PLEASE stay on the sidewalk!
(5) For your first few sessions, if you do not already have official training clothes, you may wear sweatpants and sweatshirts or t-shirts to class. A limited number of official t-shirts will be available for sale for $20.00 (along with several other items that I normally keep in stock to enhance your training experience). Order forms will be given to you for necessary training clothing and equipment, which must be ordered within your first month of training. While we are a private club, I do feel that it is important that we maintain a neat, organized and professional appearance at all times! Therefore, official clothing (gung fu pants and t-shirts with the official logo embroidered on them) MUST be worn to class. Certain training equipment will be needed for your training that you will need to own (this is due to hygienic purposes ... no one likes to wear something that someone else has sweated all over, especially gloves and headgear). Order forms will be provided for this equipment, and you will be able to get this equipment at a discounted price by ordering through me. I rarely keep equipment in stock, due to so many size variations being possible!
(6) The Academy is located at 117 B Citation Court in Homewood. To get there, take the Oxmoor Road Exit off I-65 and go West away from Green Springs Highway. Follow Oxmoor around until it becomes West Oxmoor, then start looking for the Jack's Corporate Headquarters on the right side of the road. Take a right at the light at that intersection, which will be Citation Court. Start looking for a large building on the left with a sign out front that says Total Baseball (formally known as Excalibur indoor shooting range for those of you who are familiar with that). Turn in there and go to the far end of the parking lot and park. There is a building to the right of Total Baseball and closer to the road that shares the same parking lot. That business is closed at night, so you may park anywhere on their lot. To the left side of that building, toward the back of the building, there is a sidewalk that goes down at an angle and runs along the right side of Total Baseball. Follow the sidewalk back to the next building, which is another huge warehouse type building. By then you should have easily seen the gold door with the Jeet Kune Do logo on it. That is the entrance to the Academy. Once again, remember our training floor and PLEASE stay on the sidewalk!
Please read over this as many times as necessary to be clear on everything! If you have any questions, please feel free to email or call me. Email is still the best way to reach me, as I check email five or six times a day!
I hope that all of you (those of you who have said you would be there) are still intending to be with me on opening night! We will be opening at approximately 7:00 and class will start at 7:30. You MUST be signed up and paid before training, so please arrive early enough to take care of this! Paperwork will be ready and available for your signup! If for some reason you are not going to make it, please inform me of your intentions by way of email or phone call. I am trying to get a head count for our first session!
