Hit first, SDA

Hey Sifu Davis

I know that you like to hit first hit fast hit hard, but in regards to your hitting first - do you usually just punch them right off the bat? Or do you mean that your hit CONNECTs first? (Interception)? And does it differ in sparring? If I am going to spar with somebody should I counterpunch or be more aggressive and hit first? I have always been more aggresive in hitting first, but the very few times in sparring that I did knock someone out surprisingly it was a counterpunch or stop hit and I did not expect them to drop.

Also, have you ever just used an SDA to end an entire fight?

SDA

Hello Wei Lin!

I have actually on a few occasions used a single direct straight punch to drop someone, knocking them out completely! Single Direct Attack is awesome if you have the timing for it, and yes, as soon as I sense that the opponent is going to attack, or at the first sign of aggression, I drop them! No sense waiting around if your life could be on the line! Sounds like you are doing the right thing in your sparring! Keep up the good work!

Sounds like when you used an intercepting punch or a counter, you simply caught them when they didn't expect to be hit, and that play a big factor in knocking someone out. The same can be said for SDA. I personally don't like to wait and would rather take the fight to my opponent. I don't fight going backwards, as Sifu Davis says. Remember that a SDA can be a kick to the shin or thigh area, or anything that goes along those lines
