There are a lot of weight vests out there, but they seem light to me. And the heavier, the more expensive, of course. I did it on the cheap myself. If you have a sturdy backpack and some weights you can try that. Put in a blanket or shirt to protect your back. If you don't have weights, buy a bag of sand and put it in the backpack. Or soda bottles filled with water. I did it with 50lbs. of plates before, which would probably be an expensive vest. Just make sure you adjust the straps so they won't cut into your shoulders so much. The weight vest probably distibutes the weight more evenly, but the backpack is more like military training.
Do you know of any good brands of weight vests that are reliable? I was thinking about the backpack thing but I think I would prefer to have the weight distributed evenly.

Here's some weight vests, and as I expected, very pricey. The more weight, the more $$$. Yeah the weight is more distributed. But I prefer the backpack method. You could probably do better on other aspects using free weights. But if you got the money, maybe it's worth it.
