seattle bai jong

hello sifu davis,
my question is to you.you said in another post that the seattle bai jong was not wing chun, just the hand positions were.what were the legs (southern praying mantis?).i'm curious,and why the change?evidently he saw something that he felt could improve his kung fu.

but the stance was modified. WC stance is a neutral stance with no forward side till contact has been initiated or made. The "seattle" period was Bruce teaching a modified WC.

Seattle Bai Jong

Hello Edward!

The Seattle Bai Jong stance is a bit different in the way that the feet are positioned. The weight distribution is different also, with more weight on the rear leg. Below is a photo of myself and the late Sifu Ted Lucay Lucay. Sifu Ted is in the Seattle bai jong position. You can see the similarities between it and Wing Chun.

you notice in this video clip bruce is in many stances.

Especilly when you get to 1 minute and 20 seconds for a few seconds bruce is sitting on the back leg more.and then watch the other type of footwork at this period as he further trapps with taky kimura.
