my wing chun comes from my father who,learned it from sifu jason lau who,learned it from sifu jiu wan.
one of sifu lau's senior student's in the 90's did some research on our wing chun family.
he said,he had spoke to someone at wong shun leung's
school in hong kong and,they told him that bruce had first started training in wing chun with sifu jiu wan.
he said it was only for a short time.supposably,they had a falling out.
jiu wan was known to have a bad temper and was mean to his students.bruce also had a bad temper so,i can see why they wouldnt have got along.i heard jiu wan was a alcoholic.he also was a gangster type who hung around alot of bad guys.
i dont know if this is true and,if it was it, wouldn't change anything as far as bruce is concerned.but,has anyone heard this?i'm just curious.
jiu wan's wing chun was very good,yip man and him were good friends and respected each other.jiu wan at one time took over teaching at the restaurant workers union when yip man was sick.

I was not aware of this. I know Jiu Wan was Sifu Francis Fongs instructor as well. He and Sifu Lau are good friends and studied together overseas.

I have never heard of that, but do not deny the possibility! Truth of the matter is, no one was there with Bruce Lee to document his every move, so we will probably never know!
