I read the doctors note and article posted at the top of this thread. Obviously this guy was a quack, he's been sued and fined for self-medicating, his whole practice was unliscensed. I don't think this one guys greedy motives is a cuase to throw away a promising treatment.

I do agree that I don't believe Autism is caused by a toxic level of mercury in the system. But Chelation therapy, done right, can have huge beneficial effects, not just on children with autism but on almost anyone.

The article above also stated that mercury was the mineral believed to be the source of some of the problems. The research I've found says that it's more likely zinc and copper. And there are trials ongoing into a chelation therapy for alzheimers that could proove promising for children with autism.

Don't discount chelation therapy, just be very cautious and careful what you do and how you proceed. That should be common sense advice for everything though, not just medicatl treatments.
