BRAVO, Shirley!!!

That was an excellent e-mail message you sent to ABC, unfortunately I missed the broadcast.
I had a very similar experience with ABA and my son. He did very well, made more progress than he had with anythig else, and still has the skills he acquired through ABA. I fought the school to get ABA 1 hour a day for him, they flatly refused, stating that since he had made progress in the last THREE YEARS, that they had "done their job." They did not like my comment that in my opinion he made most of that progress with ABA in the previous 3 months!
I began sending him to school half days for two reasons...1. To get him more ABA.
2. His class that year was horrendous!, totally out of control, with violent, aggressive, kids running around, jumping off furniture, throwing chairs, running out of the classroom, down the STREET! This is NOT anexaggeration...I WAS THERE, most of the time, for obvious reasons(to protect my child)
I called 2 IEPs trying to get him back into his previous classromm to no avail.
So I began the half day thing...after a half day in the classroom...it often took the whole therapy session to de-escalate...in the ball pit, lights off, buried in pillows, humming.
He regressed.. of course the school blamed it on me not letting him attend school the full day!!!
It is in his school records!!! What a crock!!!
Sorry to vent, but I do feel better, now. I try not to go there, much. Thanks for listening. Lindy
