Chelation Therapy for Autism

Welcome! Thank you for visiting the Chelation Therapy for Autism message board. This is a place for support, discussion and friendly debate. This board is designed for those who hold the belief that heavy metal toxicity and/or environmental exposures (ie: mercury/aluminum from vaccination) are the probable cause for regressive autism. This is the main topic of discussion but subject matter is not limited to chelation alone. This message board does not constitute medical advice. Consult your physician for medical advice.

Chelation Study...Anyone interested in contributing information?

by

This study is being conducted through Webster University’s Advanced
Research Methods class. I have been an active member of the autism
community for a number of years doing various types of research as well
as working with autistic children. I have dedicated a significant portion of
my life to the autism field and strive to find appropriate treatments to
make each individuals life as productive and independent as possible. The
main purpose of this study is to examine aspects of chelation therapy as
treatment for autism. This is not an experiment; it is simply a survey
asking various questions about your child. This survey and the
information you give us will be kept anonymous. If you are interested in
helping just reply to this message and I will send you the survey and
instuctions, it should not take more than fifteen minutes to complete.
From this survey I hope to provide a rationale for a need to generate
further FDA approved studies and research on the topic of chelation
therapy as treatment for autism. If you would like to hear about the
results of this study, please contact the Behavioral and Social Sciences
Department at Webster University, care of Professor Seena Kohl,
314-938-7018, or you may email me directly, jessicoghill@gmail.com, at
the end of May. If you are interested in this topic, below is an article you
might want to read.

Information on Chelation therapy

by

To whom it may concern:

My name is Darlene Caton and my husband and I are the parents of a 13 year old little boy who is severely autistic. He was diagnosed with autism when he was 3 years old. Our lives have been devastating every since that moment we were told. We are convinced that our son was born normal and that it was the vaccines that made him autistic. We have been told by a couple of chelation therapy. We are willing to do anything for my son to make him better. Are there any pros and cons to chelation therapy. Is there any hope for our son? Is this something that we should try?

Sincerely,
Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Caton

Is it to late for my 14years old Autistic Son?

by

Hi,
I currently live in Bangkok, Thailand. I have 13.5 years old twin sons who are autistic. They are non-verbal. I wonder who has experience of Chelation Therapy to this age of autistic, they are almost 14 now. I have been through so many beheavior modification along the way since they are 1and a half years old. They improve a lot especially their hyperactivities but still non-verbal. There is no such doctor or practitioner who can help supervisor the Chelation Therapy for my sons. But there is a clinic that we can manage the test of toxicity. However, can the PAC-RX be used with them if I order from US?

Thank you
Satinee

looking into chelation

by patty

Hello -

I am looking into chelation for my nine year old daughter with Childhood Disintegrative Disorder. She has had many good alternative treatements - dietary, supplements, antifungals - along with more standard medical treatment. I am interested in what those who have done the treatments with their child might advise me -

Thanks -

NDF - effective - side effects

by

OK we just met a DAN doc who inspite of my insisting my son's gut and his overall vitamin and minerals are great ... didn't put him on DMPS ... yea I know I want a ferrari and haven't even figured out where the steering wheel is ... OK Now she gave us NDF. Start at 1 drop and increase till he starts to react badly and then back out 1 step. OK here is the question. How is NDF compared to DMPS or any other product for effectiveness. BTW he may be lead and mercury I think.
Thanks.

There is a vast amount of information on this site. The presentation by Boyd Haley Phd. Chemistry Dept. University of Kentucky, is hard evidence on the toxic effects of mercury and it's link to autism. The presentation is 1 hr. long, but can be paused if needed. Watch & listen carefully. He is one of the worlds leading experts on mercury. The whole site is filled with very good information, it took me 3 months to go through it all, verify what it contained, & now I am looking into the different forms of detox for my son. Geier & Geier are working on new chelation formulas, as is Dr. Haley. We should have new, safer choices soon. In the mean time, God bless you all in your journey to heal your children.

Accountability for Physicians

by Gary

I agree that Dr. Barrett's site sometimes contains questionable material. However, it's important that physicians are held to a certain level of accountability...particularly in the autism treatment area. There are many doctors out there touting "miracle cures" when in fact no one has a handle on this disorder yet.

I'm a father to a child on the spectrum and we have been to several alternative physicians...most have been disappointing in cost and treatment results.

It would seem the great Stephen Barrett failed his boards, a fact that came out in court not too long ago. He runs Quachwatch out of his basement after losing his job. He just lost a law suit in his own home town. I'm glad that someone is watching him.

It is hard for me to believe that a pediatrician would knowingly poison your child for approximately 17.00 dollars a shot. I am not saying there is no connection I am just saying you shouldn't attack all the pediatrician who have actually saved many children's lives!!

not angry w/ docs, per se...

by T Hale

It's not the docs that are REALLY to blame. They were doing what everyone thinks is right, to keep nasty diseases at bay so we don't have major outbreaks of childhood diseases.
Who is really to blame, well that's simple...the greedy, money hungry pharmeceutical (sp) companies, AKA Merck. Did you know they knew that Thimerisol, the ingridient in the vaccines that has mercury in it, was the "cause" of most children in the U.S. and abroad to develop Autism, PPD, ADHD, ADD, and successfully swept it under the rug with the help of such Senators as Frisk (a doctor, by the way) to keep us, the parents of such children from being able to sue for the costs of treatment and therapy, not to mention any punitive recourse.
It sickens me, but until THAT particular issue can be resolved the only thing we can do is chelation. I don't know about anybody else, but insurance won't cover it and it is extremely expensive, so long story short, RICH people will have "used to be" autistic children, and the rest of us get to tell our autistic children, "sorry, I'd like to get you fixed, but the world doesn't give a damn about you." Good Luck to all!! You will most assuredly need it.

Chelation Works; Ask My Son

by

My son is currently using the Buttar protocol for chelation. He is on TD-DMPS and other supplements. He is doing really well. He is in second grade and fully integrated in the large class. He is making friends and extremely verbal. He still has some learning disabilities, but I believe after a full year or two of chelation--he will not have them anymore.

I check my son's ph level every day. I also alternate cooking with garlic, oregano, and onions (all anti-yeast). I also select juices with grapeseed extract and cranberry. I believe this, in addition to all the wonderful supplements he's on from Buttar, really help him.

My son is 8; I wish we'd found this protocol years ago. Diet only got him so far; he needed to get the metals out before he could truly heal. I am following in his footsteps. I am taking metal magnet (by enzymatic therapies) which is fulvic acid, checking my ph and getting my fillings removed. I'm also about to be treated for lyme's disease.

I think slow is better for chelation. They didn't get there over night; it's not fair to ask a body to push them out all at once (with IV). I would never do that to myself or my child.

Best,
Jennifer

TD-DMPS

by Carol

We are also using Buttar's protocol. My son has started chelation just 2 months ago. He turned five in October. we have noticed some old behaviors coming back. I have read this is normal for some children and that the chelation takes about three months to start pulling mercury out. Therefore we don't see much improvement till then. We are noticing longer sentences and also he is now fully potty trained. So we see some improvements but with some regession. How was your son in the first 2 months of starting chelation? How long did it take for you to see big improvement?

Thanks, Carol

Therapies

by

I have found many therapies on the internet: methylcobalamin, methyl-B12, GFCF diets, diet allergies, DMSA, EDTA, NDF, PCA-Rx, Benzonite Clay, other vitamin treatments, and (my favorite) the man trying to sell detoxifying foot baths! My daughter has PDDNOS, not otherwise specified because of her age, I think. She behaves as if she is mildly Autistic. I have her in special education preschool and they have been great. She has come a long way. I still feel as if I need to do more. It sounds as if everyone else on this website are further in their journeys with Autism therapy and I am struggling to catch up.
I am not ready for chelation thrapy. One reason is, there are many to choose from and the side effects are a great concern. If a threapy has a possibility of death, I'll keep my Autistic daughter and all of her eccentricities.
At the same time, I don't want to turn away a therapy that can truly help.
My first step will be to contact her doctor. I'll be in touch.

Now I'm Really Confused!

by

My husband and I have 3 beautiful sons, our middle child with moderate to severe autism. We just now found out about the chelation therapy, after about 2 1/2 years of dealing with our child's autism and the excrutiatingly slow "traditional" therapy. We about hit the roof learning about what Thimerisol has done to our baby! I've always believed Autism stemmed from the vaccines, but forever heard how wrong I was. Well, now we know, and all kinds of people are either for chelation or against it. I was told by our DAN doctor that if the protocol is followed to a 'T', the risk factors are almost moot. Perhaps the children certain people are talking about, (the ones with kidney problems) didn't do it right, or have another agenda...I don't know. I do, however know this..the prognosis for our son is NOT good. He is at risk of being "mentally retarded" his whole life no matter how many specialty therapists he has, and right now, thats not an option for us! We will be going along with the toxicologists and DAN doctor to "cure" our son of this dibilitating condition his pediatritions put him in. I'm also convinced that this whole mess could've been avoided if the doctors who give innoculations cared more about patients and less about the lining of their pockets!! If there is a cure, why not fight for it, and not against it!!!!

There is nothing to be confused about. Our children were poisoned... PERIOD... NO CONFUSION. Now... what do we do?!?!? We chelate them. The risk-reward is to great. I have a 4 yeard old son PDD and a 3 year old daughter Severe Autistic. We are about to start chelating our daughter. If it goes as hoped our son will begin within months... I will keep you all posted.

Good luck to all of us... We need it.

After careful consideration, and weighing all the pros and cons, we have decided to chelate our Autistic 5 year old son. I still, however have concerns about how effective the therapy will be, if there is an age cutoff, etc. Anyone out there know the effectiveness on a 5 year old. Is it too late? I'd hate to put his poor body through more stress if its a moot point. W/B!!

There's hope for you...

by Ron

You need to try the website GenerationRescue.org is a good place to start.

What you need to do is get his gut straight...most Autistic children have a
yeast overgrowth...such as our 3 year old. They have a hard time digesting
this and that do to this yeast overgrowth. Once the gut is fixed...and his
diet is on track ((no sugars, GFCF etc.) you can start chelation.

We are currently seeing a doctor in Phoenix, AZ Alan Ketover at the
Valley Clinic...give them a call maybe they can refer you to someone in
your area...

Hope is with you.

re: now im really confused

by Jay

So im not quite sure i follow your logic here.

The doctors who vaccinated your child probably for an increadibly small fee were only out to line there pockets, even tho the vaccinations have saved literally millions of lives.

BUT!

The doctors peddling the unproven treatment for exorbant ammounts of money are doing it because they are great people and really want to help your kids.

People more than anything when you find out you have an autistic kid make sure you get him into a treatment program ASAP.

And then do the same for yourself.

Chelation alternative that is less stressful on the system

by

Hello all,
I make money in the detox industry. If this letter offends anyone, you have my heart felt apology. I truly am trying to help and learn.
My name is Dave Lewter and I live in Austin, TX.. My father and I manufacture body detoxification footbaths. The IonSpa is a gentle, non chemical alternative to chelation therapy with few if any side effects. We have been a preferred, non-invasive method of heavy metal detox for several years and are now hearing from parents with autistic children who are using our system with encouraging results. The stories are heart tugging and beautiful.
This is a simple 30 minute footbath or tub session that exposes the lymph, tissue, and blood to a heavily ionized field. Toxins are nuetralized and pulled from the body via osmosis without strain on the kidneys or other systems. Details can be found at our site www.theionspa.com.
We want to get our units into the hands of several parents so we can get feedback, input and recommendations as this is new territory for us.
We can't give our units away but we will cut our price almost in half for anyone who responds to my email or calls me at 888-836-0019. We will give you 45 days (enough time to do 20+ sessions)to use the ionSpa in your home. If you don't have satisfactory results or you simply don't want the unit, send it back and we will gladly refund your money. If it doesn't work, we don't expect you to pay.
If you and several other parents want to split the cost and share a unit, the 9lb. IonSpa is easily portable and very durable. Some groups even have "detox parties" that allow them to share stories, experiences and knowledge. Just call me and we can discuss.
Yes, we are business men and we apologize for "advertising" here but this issue has hit home with us and we truly feel we may be able to help your children. If we do, please tell others. If we don't, we will give you your money back.

Sincerely,
Dave Lewter

IonSpa or Ion Cleanses are NOT the answer (for autism)

by Jason

Let me say that the original message that was presented in such a heartfelt approach is just an attempt to sell their product, which by the way, will not support the healing of autism.

Reason being, these Ionic cleanses do NOT remove mercury from the body. I know; I bought an original IonCleanse. It says right inside the booklet that came with the device, that it is not an effective means of removing mercury from the body. While I stand behind the Ionic cleanse technology for it's efficacy for removing contaminants and SOME heavy metals from the body, it will not remove mercury, which is believed to be the cause of autism. Studies show that chelation therapy does remove mercury and other those other "difficult to remove" heavy metals from the body.

Your experience may be true...

Hi Jason,
Let me start by saying that I was mistaken for posting that original message. My intentions were pure but considered tacky. As I have been politely told, my message could be considered in bad taste by many people in this environment. As I have learned more about forums and ettiquite, I agree wholeheartedly. If someone contacts the moderator, I would be happy if my rookie offense were taken off the forum with a promise to not do it again.

In response to your experience, I agree that this non-FDA approved device is not for all people. A basic misunderstanding is that the machine removes toxins directly. It does not. All it does is enhance some peoples natural systems of detox. With most people, "sandbagging" in those organs associated with removing impurities and toxins can be easily overcome with a kick to the system through balancing and energizing. In the case of autism and most any other maladies, some peoples systems are simply incapable of letting go, period. I realize that and have no desire to profit from those people and never will. Hence, I extended the return policy so those who had a need and were interested could try it for a long period and decide for themselves risk free. Again, I apologize. The only reason I even ventured here was on the encouragement of those that felt they had seen benefit. I am a father and I am just sharing.

Again, please advise the moderator to remove this dialog as soon as possible. This is not the place for the owner of a company to discuss the merits of their product, especially when it may not be beneficial and admittedly expensive. Best wishes to all of you.
