Margo, the Vector is a little (well, a lot) clunky, but it does keep the data during a battery change (not sure what would happen if it ran completely dead). I've abused mine as well and it has lasted me about 8 years so far, but I don't wear it all the time. I'd actually be interested in the chick one as the size makes it uncomfortable to wear on my wrist (I like to wear watches pretty close to the hand/wrist joint, not up the arm). I might keep my eye out for a smaller form factor. I'd love to find a Suunto that was a clip style - not a wrist watch...
