Snow

Got on some spring snow finally. According to emails I have recieved, what I obeserved yesterday, and people I have talked to; the snow this year is different. It is very consolidated. Instead of a breakable crust with sugar snow underneath that is nearly impossible to snowshoe or ski in the warmth of the day, it stays hard and only the top inch or so gets mushy. We were on snow for about 1500' yesterday and didn't need snowshoes, nor did we sink in more than an inch. It is a fine time to be in the mountains!!!
