You mention you have a 2-year old. I found that I got huge benefits using my kids for resistance training. As they get older, the resistance is more mental/emotional, but when they are young they make good weights. And the best part- you get stronger as they get older! My youngest is now 15, so it doesn't work quite so well...
This works by pulling a trailer when bike riding, and pulling a sled or pulk when skiing.
