you can generally predict them taking up liberal or anti american causes - or going against majority interests. I still appreciate that many of them are sincerely interested in preserving our rights. Personally, I would rather give up a few small or meaningless rights here and there for greater good. For example, I'd rather have big corporations and the government know all my medical information - that way, mega-data-studies could determine early on what drugs cause what kinds of effects - all automatically with no dedicated studies slowing down progress.

Lately, I've felt pissed at the ACLU - I kind of knew this would happen: In the federal lawsuit against me, I'm being hit by an ex convict who has been persued by 10 different state AG's - it's all about him trying to suppress my right of expression on the internet. I'm not just trying to use free speech to advocate some goofy political goal, I'm trying to use free expression to help the public. You would think they would see value in defending the right of a law abiding citizen to expose crooks. But they refused to help me - I get the impression that if I was a terrorist in prison for wanting to nuke America and complaining that I wasn't treated nicely - then the ACLU would be falling all over themselves to keep me from being intimidated into exposing threats to national security.
