"...while no dinosaurs are known to be alive today...". Don't the crocodilians count? They were definitely here with the dinosaurs, various turtles too, I think.
And: "But that is just another species of gorilla in a remote location, not an ape man running about undetected in a highly developed country." Don't you think it would be better to wait until making such a declaration? They haven't been studied at all closely yet, and appear to be quite intelligent, dangerous hunters, just like we are.
