Response to Peter Jennings ... |
| I saw a really good PBS show on the Phoenix flares that were dropped. One lunatic group was brought in and they were analyzing blown-up images of the videos, saying that they could determine the type of light source by the way the pixels were around the lights.
They had ruled out flares because of that (very unscientific) method, then had gone on to prove they were UFOs.
They continued this way for a long time until a group from Australia was brought in. They set up video cameras, using the videos they already had to try and get back to the exact same angles. Then, they shot film during the daytime.
In the background of the image, it turned out it was the silouette of "South Mountain" (or something like that). Where the lights "went out" in the night video, it was at the exact same instant that the light hit the mountain's edge, proving that they didn't "wink out", they went behind the mountain just as the military had described originally.
The military had come back out later and said emphatically that they were flares which had been dropped "behind South Mountain", which agreed with their findings.
The question has to be asked, "Why did they drop the flares inside the city in the first place?"
Well, the night before someone had taken film of a triangular shaped object which had gone over the city with few people having seen it. It blotted out a triangle of stars as it passed and was videotaped. If it was a stealth aircraft/triangular stealth balloon, that was being tested to see if it could be seen by radar at the airport, then it makes a lot of sense why they might wish to divert attention to UFO thoughts.
That, after all, was before the stealth aircraft were known about.
