You are absolutely right, Al. Chomsky is from the most lothesome of all the communists: he is an unrepentent Stalinist.
Stalin, if anyone here is unaware, was a homicidal maniac, but he still has his enthusiasts just as does Saddam Hussein today. Chomsky just happens to be one of the more "intellectual" of his Groupies. Yes, Chomshy is a world class linguist and an "intellect". Does that somehow mean that his political opinions are worth a hoot? I think not. What kind of "intelligentsia" is that??
