I take (some) exception to your listing chiropractic in the list. About 5 years ago, for reasons I still don't know, I became barely ambulatory through back pain. I purposely didn't go to chiropractor even though my health insurance would have paid for a wide selection of them. After several months and reaching a point where I could barely get in and out of my car, I went to a chiropractor recommended by a coworker. In three weeks and three visits I was cured.
In years thereafter, in a ad hoc sort of way, I would visit her from time to time for no particular reason usually for a good back cracking. For no explainable reason, suddenly she shifted from mechanical manipulation to hocus-pocus garbage. She bought in to ear candling and all kinds of other garbage and REDUCED the physical part that obviously had the miraculous effect on me years ago. I'm betting that she lost more customers than me.
Er... but back to my point. Obviously people can have something seriously wrong with their back that can be fixed by proper manipulation.
